Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Kleave collects no data of any kind. It makes no network connections and has no analytics, accounts, or telemetry. This page says what that means, what the app keeps on your Mac, and who else is involved when you get it.

What Kleave collects

Nothing. Kleave has no sign-in, no crash reporting, no usage statistics, and no updater. It does not collect your name, email address, IP address, location, device identifiers, or anything about how you use it. Nothing is transmitted, because the app contains no networking code and bundles no third-party libraries.

What stays on your Mac

Your settings live in one file, settings.json, in Kleave's own folder under your user Library (inside the app's container on the Mac App Store build). It holds your keyboard shortcuts for the sixteen window actions and your preferences, such as Keep awake and whether the menu bar icon is shown, and the identifier of the Kleave Window Mover shortcut you added. Opening at login is registered with macOS itself, not stored by Kleave. The file never leaves your computer.

Deleting Kleave and that folder removes everything the app has ever stored. There is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf, because we never receive it.

Automation and the Kleave Window Mover shortcut

Kleave moves windows by running one shortcut, Kleave Window Mover, in the Shortcuts app on your Mac. macOS requires your explicit permission before any app can control another, and Kleave asks for it during setup. Until you allow it and add the shortcut, the app does nothing at all.

For each move, Kleave passes the shortcut three things: the name of the app in front, where its window is, and where the window should go. That happens entirely on your Mac, between Kleave and the Shortcuts app; nothing is sent anywhere.

It does not read window contents, text, form fields, or passwords. It does not record keystrokes: your keyboard shortcuts are registered with macOS, which tells the app when one is pressed and nothing more. It does not read window titles, take screenshots, or capture your screen, and it needs neither the Screen Recording nor the Input Monitoring permission.

You can withdraw the permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation, or delete the shortcut in the Shortcuts app. Kleave stops acting on windows immediately.

Third parties

The app shares data with no one, because it holds none to share. Two companies are involved around it, and neither receives anything from Kleave:

Children

Kleave is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Since it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Changes and contact

Kleave does not currently collect any data. If that ever changes, this page will say so before the version that changes it ships, with a new date at the top.
